Southampton Solent work

A huge inspiration came from the work of Southampton Solent universitys previous students thankyou to those i emailed who offered there help in the form of questions and answers!!! It was incredibly useful!! For example Adam Smith explained that to get the timing right he created an animatic, where the storyboard is put in place of moving images against the soundtrack. This is exactly what i did. I think also through looking at there work and contemplating my preferences it helped me decide that 2d drawn animation was the way forward for this peice, the handmade quality of the work id seen on the dvd made the idea go from 3d to 2d. I think a bit of the time 3d computer work can look garish and stark, with little character I watched pencil to pixel, a film on the change in animation, ages ago, but one part i clearly remember is nick park, (aardman man) saying that in chicken run they had made it too smooth and to slick, so when filming curse of the ware rabbit he was encouraging people to leave the fingerprints in the plasterscene, not wipe them out. Hand made has a quality that you can't replicate with a computer, theres no pencil marks to errase or fingerprints to destroy, just pixels, maybe they should be made more obvious.
